Special Projects Unit

The Executive Chairman oversees the SPU, pending appointment of a coordinator. For the purpose of efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability the Unit/Directorates is responsible for coordinating activities in the provision of basic education in the State.

FUNCTIONS

  • The Unit oversees capacity building activities
  • It liaises with the Ministry of Education, other Ministries, UBEC and Government Organisations, NGOs on the implementation of assisted projects on basic education.
  • It ensures that all conditions, schedule and standards set out for such programmes are met.
  • It ensures good working relationship between the Board, MOE, UBEC and other relevant organisations for the successful implementation of externally funded programmes on Universal Basic Education.
  • It coordinates the activities of basic education departments and ensures harmony in the execution of interventions grant/fund and other international donor organization activities.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The Unit successfully funded and coordinated the conduct of the following activities, among others:
  • Partner with Federal College of Education Yola to conduct Teachers Professional Development workshops.
  • Partner with University of-Sussex, UK to carry out research on Adamawa State Basic Education.
  • Partners with University of East London, UK on Teacher Training in the State.
